Recycled Sleepers


These sleepers contain traces of creosote oil preservative and thus as from June 30th 2003 can be sold to professional/ industrial users as per the EU law.

An Example of the side of Grade A sleepers. No Splits visible. All timbers in good condition We have supplied several preserved railways with sleepers to be used on their main running lines to their satisfaction. We can arrange special finance deals and year long pricing contracts.

The sleepers can be supplied 4 grades of recycled railways sleeper. The timber is either Baltic spruce, pine or beech. The grades are as follows:

Grade AA - Almost all edges are square. Best quality. No rotten pcs. Can be some cracks in sleepers at the end.
Example of Grade A Sleeper Ends. Most have straight edgers, some corners are rounded and there are a few cracksGrade A - Most edges are square some sides may be slightly rounded possibility of some cracks in sleepers at the end. Timber is sold with no rotten parts.
Grade B - Some edges rounded. End Cracks. Sleeper quality OK none of the timber contains no visible rotten parts. Size of sleeper may be irregular Firewood Grade - As the name suggests bundle of sleepersof poor quality normally only suitable for use as firewood. Sleepers would have to be chopped to obtain useful pcs.

All potential customers should be aware that these are second user sleepers and most are twenty years old so should not expect perfect timbers in any of the grades.

New Railway Sleepers

The new railway sleepers are available treated or untreated. The timber used is, pine, beech or if requested oak. The size of the timber is approx 2.4/2.6m long by 25cm wide by 13cm deep. The timber treatment contains no creosote oils or cold tar as per the current treatment rules. As a result of the treatment they are ideally suitable for use in residential areas, parks and playgrounds where there is regular contact with the public.
